How can we improve students experience in accessing health and well-being services at AUT?

University isn’t easy and no one is truly prepared for the hardship and stress that comes along with it. Nearly 2000 students took part in Kei Te Pai? Which is a report on students’ mental health. 978 students reported that they have considered dropping out due; financial hardship, choose the wrong field of study, feeling overwhelmed, family/relationship issues, mental illness and fear of failure.

AUT offers free services such as counselling and mental health support. Our challenge for this semester is to find ways to improve students experiences in accessing health and well-being services at AUT.

WHERE TO GET HELP:
If you are worried about your or someone else’s mental health, the best place to get help is through your GP or local mental health provider. However, if you or someone else is in danger or endangering others, call police immediately on 111.
