rEFLECTION

Week 4.

Prototyping.

Zoey and I tested our idea and detailed everything we wanted to incorporate in our APP. Because we were designing an APP we didn’t have a lot of limitations to what we wanted to incorporate. When Zoey and Grace presented our concepts Rose asked us to prototype the room idea because we could physically build it rather than designing it through Adobe XD.

Reflection.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do much this week as I was away for the majority of the week attending a funeral of a very close family member. It has been very difficult, to say the least.

I love prototyping. To be able to bring your idea to life, there is something so satisfying about it. Prototyping allows you to flesh out your idea, to physically see it and see if anything goes wrong or doesn’t work properly.

Here is what Grace and Zoey did in class.

Second Iteration.

Alex was able to create a 2D plan of our idea after we received some feedback.

Third Iteration.

Things people liked (proved the assumptions)

  1. Position of the door. The designed range of sights from the outside to the interior ensures both the transparency of the box and the privacy of the interviewer.

  2. Home-like environment. Making students to feel like back to home. They are safe and protected.

  3. High accessibility. Easy to get the service. Multiple mobile service points and no appointment is required to make the service easy to get.

  4. Information embedding. The information provided by the service points about health centers is more widely disseminated. (should be scale up)

Things to change and improvements.

Service closed-loop system. Is the Talking-box service one-off? Do students who have received the service need to be recorded for follow-up services? The students like to be remembered and stay in touch.
The way of implementation. Practical issues such as how to install, material selection and limitations.

Idea.

Noise. Using sound insulation materials to build the wall. (Expand: Play soothing music.)
Empty time. Strangers can randomly enter to chat.
